I'm 23 and have been working my first full-time, 'real' job out of school for about a year now located on the island and have very, very few friends left here -- most of whom are retained friends from high school, but I feel I've grown apart from them to be honest. I'm finding it very hard as a young person on LI to meet other people in similar situations.
I've even started a volunteer gig over the weekend, but unfortunately I'm the only young person there!
At least its outdoors and somewhat enjoyable for me Should I just look for a job in the city to get out of this rut? All I do when I come home after work is read, surf the web, watch documentaries or teach myself things -- no one to confide in, talk with, etc. Status: "Joe Biden is a total scumbag" set 2 days ago. Location: under the beautiful Carolina blue. Anyone at work your age? The only interaction I get out of that place is from a 50 year old lady who has the hots for me!
All kidding aside, you might be better off moving out of NY. Tons of nightlife and things to do here for somethings, but very shallow. I guarantee your quality of life will improve. Long Island just sucks the life and vitality out of people.
